Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after his victory in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his team followed a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he lost control at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th place, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with the German's car in third, over half a second behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
